Rosie

2020 - March 2024

Rosie is a lovely speckled Sussex chicken that we received from a friend. She was eating eggs and was going to be put down, so we took her so she could keep living a lovely chicken life. After a month of living here, she was healthy and started laying eggs on a daily basis. Izzy loved her, and together, they made little Rizzy, who turned out to be a beautiful crossbreed! Speckled Sussex have an interesting whining sound they make when they aren’t happy. The sound is funny and annoying, and little Rizzy inherited this sound as well.

In March 2024, she became lethargic and passed. We gave her vitamins, calcium, and different chicken treatments; however, nothing worked. We’re happy we could give her two extra years of fun living with lots of treats and free-ranging. We believe she had a stuck egg that developed after molting a few months prior.
